Letter from a mother to a daughter:

December 12, 2012~ Etc.

I found this on the web and thought it was beautiful.  Now that my parents are getting a lot older in their years, I believe a part of my mission in life is to be there for my parents and help them as much as I can, since they’ve given up so much in life to give me the life that I love.  As much as I’m excited to leave UT in a few years, a part of me worries and stresses about leaving my parents here.  Jay’s been such a wonderful and caring son-in-law and he’s helped them so much and does it so willingly and happily, I’m so grateful for him and I know my parents are too.
I’m the only one out of my parents’ five children that live near them, and I worry who will watch over them and take care of them when I’m gone.   But I guess all I should think about now is doing as much as I can for them while I’m here now, and worry about the latter as it happens.
I believe the love a parent has for their child is the most pure and perfect sentiment between two people.  I’m grateful for my parents who showed me what perfect love is, and I hope I’m not too far off while trying to catch up in their footsteps.

That was really sweet. It is good to look at that perspective. Our parents help us so much in life… there is bound to be a time when the tables will turn and they deserve every bit as much love as they gave us when we were being taken care of.

Beautiful made me shed a tear or two. I happen to be the aging parent and completely understand the letter's perspective. Not so easy getting old. Thanks.

I agree! And my parents are at that time right now, so I'm glad I live close them to help. πŸ™‚

Thanks for your comment! After reading this letter, I've stopped telling my mom, "You already told me that story 3 times." πŸ™‚ I just listen and be attentive to everything she says. I hope you have a wonderful family who supports you!
