our neighborhood girls were selling popsicles one day
and they were kind enough to let my girls be a part of it.
our street doesn’t get much traffic so their main customers
were me and the neighborhood girls’ mom,
(so we made sure we gave them extra tips π
and they ended up eating most of the popsicles anyway.
it reminded me of one summer long ago when my friends and i
sold shaved ice on the side of the road. we earned just a few
dollars more than what we spent on the ingredients but we
didn’t care, we felt like grown-ups making our own money.
we couldn’t wait to become grown-ups one day, doing the grown-up stuff
but i wish someone had told me that being a kid is pretty cool too
and there’s no need to rush our childhood into adulthood
because we will look back on our childhood one day
and wish we could be a child again.
