Ohh, I know that feeling! My daughter will be 6yr next month, my son will by 9. My husband already knows how to approach the subject with him when the time is right.
I remembered my mom trying to have the sex talk with me when I was a preteen. It's was so awkward for her, and then it became awkward for me. She never did finish the talk π I hope my talk with my kid will be better.
My understanding is this is how dogs display dominance. You'll see the male dogs mounting the other male dogs at the dog park. When we brought our puppy home he did this to my 5 year old son. My Husband told Greg to hold the dog still and do it back. So Greg held Henry's collar, straddled him and kind of knocked the dog right to left between his knees. That was the last time Henry has mounted anyone in the house. Sometimes I think you just have to communicate to them in their language.
Fixing a dog does not stop them from humping. I have had 3 large very dominate dogs – all fixed – all humpers. One of them was a female. You just need to learn to manage the situation (I know – easier said then done) and realize that it is about dominance. Dear Baby has it right. You can either Hump him back (which is so funny but probably works) or ease him to the floor and hold him down by putting your hands on his shoulder and back hip until he is still. No petting – just holding. This is a dominance exercise that has worked for me. Good luck.
our dog has a "special" stuffed animal friend that stays in the basement. so he can go down there, and have his fun, and doesnt do it to anybody else. maybe achilles need a 'SPECIAL' stuffed animal!lol
Sometimes the dog does that as an attempt to establish dominance over you. Even my girl dog would do that to me! I would just do the Ceaser "shhhhp" thing and command her to sit. That fixed it. Otherwise if you don't do that, the dog will keep trying to do it to you.
Thanks for your tip everyone! I had no idea it was an act of dominance, how interesting! He never does it to my husband, so does he think he dominates over me? ouch! I better show him who's the boss! π
My female puppy's been doing this to me whenever she wants to go out or play with me since she's 3 months old… she's 8 months old now and still doing it. It freaked me out at first but it's just a way of them being excited, establish dominance and wanted to play. π

Isn't he fixed? If not, why don't you fix him? No need for more puppies in this world.

Thanks Lisa! Humping him back sounds hilarious but makes sense. Thanks for sharing your knowledge!
