I bought a ticket to Alt Summit a couple months ago right when it went on sale, and I was actually surprised at myself that I had bought it because I am pretty frugal and at $625 for a ticket, it’s the most expensive blog conference that I know of. Not to mention I have only attended 2 blog conferences in my life which was just earlier this year and it was because I had bought one and then got sponsored a ticket so I was selling my ticket I originally had bought, then the founder of this other blog conference contacted me and told me she would trade a ticket with me, a ticket to her conference for my ticket. Her conference was 4 times the cost of the one I was selling, so I couldn’t say no to that offer! So this is a big deal for me guys, to spend this much on a blog conference!
But for some reason, I had a strong desire to go and a feeling that I should buy my ticket and just go. I didn’t know why but I trusted that instinct and now looking back, I think it was because I am now about to start a business and it’ll be really good for me to go connect with other bloggers and build relationships and make friends in the blogging community! Businesses are so scary because so much of it is luck, timing and connections. So it’ll be really good for me and I know I will find it worth the price I paid. You need to invest and spend money in order to make more money, you know?
But before I pulled the plug in buying the ticket, I got to hear from other bloggers who have attended what they thought about Alt Summit and whether it was worth it to go. Here are a few of the bloggers opinions:
“I have attended many times (thanks to getting tickets free) and have loved it each time. If you can afford it then yes, it’s worth it. I think it’s a big high priced, but you do get a lot (meals, parties, great sponsors).”
“I agree that’s it’s worth it if you can swing it, but I’m also someone who usually goes for free either by winning a ticket or speaking. The nice thing is that you don’t have to also spring for a room at the Grand if you’re a local. I think every blogger should come to Alt at least once.”
“I’ve been twice…I don’t think it’s worth the full price. I won a ticket the first time and bought a deeply discounted ticket from someone the second time. That being said, it might be worth it for you, if you get enough work from the conference to make up the money spent or if your blog is producing a solid income!”
But if you are still debating on going or not, there is a giveaway going on right now with hayneedle.com, a large online retailer for home furnishings and decor, for a free paid-trip to Alt Summit. I wish I was a home decor blogger, I would have definitely nominated myself! Haha. Blog with the most nominations wins an all-expense-paid trip including conference ticket, air fare, and hotel ($3,000 value). You just go on their homepage and click on the Alt Summit banner to enter. The contest ends October 15, 2015. I wish I got a free ticket and didn’t have to pay for my ticket! Buyer’s remorse over here! But I think it’ll be worth it for me, I am so excited!
Are any of you attending Alt Summit Winter 2016? If so, I’d love to meet you!

Hey Sarah! Thanks for the post about Alt Summit. I've never heard of it before until now and it seems interesting. Will check it out! I also definitely believe that starting businesses are about luck, timing and connections. Also good partners! (Haha I just happened to write my last post about this really lucky timing). Good luck with your venture and look forward to hearing more about it!
