Life is Beautiful: My birthday

My birthday

We celebrated my birthday quiet and simple- just the way I wanted it(not that I could've partied hard with my intense morning sickness and all).  Adi made me breakfast with a little help of dad, she really cooked the Portuguese sausage and eggs all by herself.  It was a tiny bit burnt, but nonetheless very delicious and the most darling thing I ever ate.  Then I lied in bed the rest of the day and managed to get out for dinner to one of my favorite spots, Trolley's. They have the best salad and chicken wings ever!  I told Jay I didn't want to receive any presents, so he made me a scrumptious strawberry ice-cream roll.  I remember when we were dating and we had a potluck to go to, and I watched him make this ice-cream roll from scratch. I'm sure it was his way of trying to impress me and well, he succeeded. ;)

The day after my birthday, Jay surprised me with a little lunch date!  He told me we were going to to eat lunch with his cousin that's visiting from HI so he found a babysitter, and when the babysitter came, he told me it was actually just me and him going on a date!  We went to a Thai restaurant and laughed the whole time.  Thanks for a great birthday hun!

  3. once upon a time there was a young girl recently graduated from high school learning how to cook. So she borrowed her mother's cook book and promptly lost it. little did she know that book had recipes scribbled in the margins from all of her mother's favorite dishes. Including ice cream roll. that they had every year for Christmas. since then, mother had tried so many recipes for ice cream roll but they always cracked when she rolled them and fell apart. daughter feels so bad and would love a chance to get a working recipe for mother. think you could help me out?

  4. I agree! Recipe for the ice cream roll. Looks amazing. I'm not very impressive in the kitchen, but maybe I could impress my husband if I made that! :)
