So we just got our new camera and we’ve been in LOVE with it! Pictures are worth a thousand words and even though we’re not pro’s yet, we can definetly tell a difference in picture quality! These are some pictures that we took recently of Adalie being a good little princess!
After MANY MANY MANY sleepless nights (Sarah more than me, but I was affected too!) we decided to try to let her “cry it out.” She LOVES to be held and usually falls asleep everynight laying on my chest. I don’t know how that would be comfortable as it’s hard as a rock???…but she sleeps a lot longer sleeping on my chest than by herself. As SOON as I put her down, she’s up within an hour if that. She seems especially good at waking up 1, 2, 3, and even 4 times a night on Saturday night when she KNOWS we have church at 9am Sunday. So after repeated attempts and various “sleeping techniques/tips/routines” that we’ve tried, we tried the infamous yet excruciatiating “cry it out” method. So at 10:14pm I layed her down when she was semi asleep. I went downstairs and Sarah and I used our quiet voices to talk. She would wimper her cute “do you hear me” wimper and then suck her fist again. Her cries got progressivly louder and despite all attempts to ignore it, it tore my heart up to hear her cry. At 10:55, I couldn’t take it anymore and went and picked her up and held her close to me…she cried even louder as I picked her up as if to say “I can’t believe you just left me there this WHOLE time!!!” She calmed down and was out within 5 minutes and slept on my chest the whole night…shesh, I’m weak sauce! I wish she’d sleep like she does in the pictures!!!

Great pictures guys. Yes, very fine quality. I was lucky, Aunty Helen made me do the cry-it-out method with Caden and if weren’t for her insistence, I wouldn’t have had the heart to do it when he was 2.5-3 months. And after 2.5 weeks of tough love, it really worked and he has slept like an angel ever since. As for Nate, fortunately he was at work when we did the regimen, but yes, you gotta hold the men back. You guys usually can’t are the ones who can’t take it. good luck!

Ugh! We couldn’t do the cry it out thing until 7 months and only then cuz the Doc said she had to start sleeping thru the night! Good luck with that…know that I feel your pain I am sure we will be right there with you in a few months :)!

I am here because Steph posted your blog on hers, and I’m a sucker for baby pictures. I never could do the cry-it-out-thing…I figured there was so little time in their lives for 100% total security…so i sucked it up for a few years, through three kids. Just sent the first one off to College…he’s been putting himself to sleep for quite awhile now,and he is one secure kid. FWIW. Good luck!
